Wow!!!  The year is flying past quickly!  We are in the home stretch but the learning is still going strong in AM preschool.  We have learned about spring and how spring and winter are different.  We learned to look for the signs and the changes in the weather.  Currently, we are talking about bugs.  We learned about different kinds of bugs and are even raising butterflies!!!!!

Class Announcements
Bugs
We are learning about bugs right now.  We looked at real earthworms in our dirt box and learned about lady bugs.  We did a lot of cooking so far, like lady bug treats, ants on a log, and dirt pudding.  Next, we are going to raise real caterpillars and watch them turn into butterflies.
Spring
We learned that in the spring, plants grow, birds come back and bears wake up from hibernation.  We went on a spring walk and saw some beautiful blossoms in the trees.  We did a lot of spring art projects, including fruit loop rainbows.
Turkeys
In November, we talked about Thanksgiving and turkeys.  We talked about what we are each so thankful for and learned a little bit about who had the first Thanksgiving.  We all shared what we usually eat at Thanksgiving-  anything from apple pie to juice.  Some activities we did were tasting stuffing dry and wet, pumpkin pie play-doh, and making thankful feathers for our thankful turkeys.
Pumpkins and Fall
In preschool, we learned about the next season-  fall.  We learned the signs of fall and even took a walk outside to look for those signs.  We collected leaves and played in them.  We also learned about pumpkins.  We opened a pumpkin up and looked inside with magnifying glasses.  We talked about what you can make from a pumpkin and even played with pumpkin pie filling!
Apples
This week, we started talking about apples.  We tasted different colors of apples to see which one we liked the best.  We pretended to cook with apples in housekeeping, and we even did some real cooking.  We made applesauce parfaits with applesauce and graham crackers.  Next week, we will be painting with apples and doing some more fun apple activities!!!!
